Quick Tip: Control GPS Signal To Improve Battery Life

March 14, 2012 · by Tom

Ever get mad at your iPhone for dying so fast? Well don’t get too mad because it might not be your iPhone’s fault! It’s trying its best! One thing to check is to see if your iPhone’s GPS is working too hard for no reason. Let’s find out.

First off, let’s go into your Settings app. You’ll see the image below. Now select Location Services.

Now you will see a switch and a list of all your apps that could technically use your iPhone’s GPS signal:

To save battery life you can simply switch Location Services to off but we don’t recommend that 100% because some apps work best when they can acquire your location. Instead, go through the list of apps like shown above and leave only the apps you don’t mind finding your location. The big apps that heavily depend on using Location Services are Maps and Weather so be sure to at least have those turned on.

More battery saving tips are coming in the future so be sure to stay tuned!
