How To: Create and Send Awesome Cards to Anybody in the World

May 29, 2012 · by Tom

This one is just fun. Apple has an app called “Cards” that lets you create stunningly detailed cards to send to family and friends, sent in clean vintage-looking envelopes. And the best part is, you can do it all right from your iPhone… postage included! Your recipient will love it!

First let’s open the app. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, here’s the link.

Now let’s ‘create’ a card together so touch the create button.
Next you’ll see many different templates and styles to choose from for differ occasions. For this demo, I’ll choose a generic one for “Any Occasion”.

When you are ready to select a template, simply touch the one you want.

Now it’s time to customize it with your stuff. Let’s choose the photo that will grace the front of the card. Touch the center area where the photo will be.

Here you can navigate to either find an existing photo in your photo album or you can take a new picture with your camera.

After selecting a photo, you’ll see your photo placed on the card.

Now, see where it says “insert greeting”? We can change that to say whatever we want. Simply touch it to edit.

Type your own greeting for the front of the card.

Then hit done.

It’s starting to take shape. Looks pretty good already!
Next, let’s work on the inside of the card. So touch inside located in the top-middle of your screen.

You can edit the message inside the card. There is a main phrase and then there’s a secondary phrase with smaller less significant font. You can edit them by simply touching them.

Then hit done.

Now let’s work on the envelope so touch envelope.

Here you can fill out the return address and the mailing address. Simply touch the area you wish to edit.

You’ll notice that after touching it once, it’ll ask you to either edit or choose. Edit will let you type in the name and address manually while choose will let you choose a contact you have in your iPhone’s address book which saves time. For this demo, I chose ‘edit’ in order to type in sample addresses.

All done! Look at the beautiful detail of the envelope. Yes, it will look exactly like that in real life.

Cards cost $2.99 which includes shipping to send to anyone in the United States. Also, it costs $4.99 including shipping to send to anybody in the world. I’ve sent somebody a card from this app before and I loved how it looked in real life. You will too!
