How To: Set an Alarm on Your iPhone

August 20, 2012 · by Sam

For many people, cellphones have replaced the alarm clock. Just about every mobile phone offers some sort of alarm clock feature, and the iPhone is no exception.

Here’s how you can set an alarm (or several alarms) on your iPhone.

Setting Alarms

First, go into your “Clock” app.

Next, tap the icon on the bottom that says “Alarm”.

In the upper right, your will see a plus symbol. Tap it.

You will be presented with several options to choose from when setting your alarm—including setting the alarm to repeat on certain days of the week, choosing what sound will play when the alarm goes off, enabling or disabling the snooze feature, and finally, providing a name for the alarm (e.g., you can call the alarm “work”, “school”, or “exercise”).

These features can be handy as they allow you to set alarms that go off at different times and/or on different days. So, for example, if you have classes or meetings at 8:00 am on Mondays and Thursday and other classes or meetings at 10:30 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, you can set two separate alarms (one for your Monday and Thursday classes/meetings and another for your Tuesday and Wednesday classes/meetings) rather than having a single alarm that goes off everyday at a certain time.

On the bottom half of your screen, you will see the time dials. Swipe up or down on the hours, minutes, and am/pm sections to set the alarm for the desired time.

When you are finished, tap “Save” in the upper right corner.

Congratulations! You have just set your iPhone’s alarm. To set additional alarms, just follow the steps above.

Deleting Alarms

To delete an alarm, go into your “Clock” app and tap on the “Alarm” icon on the bottom of the screen.

Tap “Edit” in the upper left of the screen.

To delete an alarm, tap the red circle with the minus sign, and then tap the “Delete” button that appears.

Repeat these steps to delete any additional alarms you choose.

By following the steps above, you are able to create and delete alarms. Now go give it a shot!
